FIVE KEYS TO MAKING THE MOST OF EASTER
Here are five quick things to keep in mind as you finalize your preparations for Easter Sunday.
Let your guests know that you are glad they have chosen to worship with your church. No doubt you’ll see some folks you haven’t seen since Christmas. Don’t scold them for coming for only twice a year. Instead, give them a reason for wanting to come back next week. A warm welcome, a well-planned service, and an uplifting, solidly Biblical message are giant steps in this direction.
Easter is the best Sunday to begin a new series or announce a new series. Talk up the next series. This also applies to ministry programs and activities: talk them up as well.
You’ll probably be preaching to more non-Christians this week than any other Sunday this year. Whatever your message, be sure it includes a clear and straightforward presentation of the gospel, with a simple invitation to respond.
This is not the week for preaching politics. Or church problems. Or culture wars. Obviously, every Sunday is about Jesus. But this special day, more than any other, needs to be a celebration of Jesus and the power of his resurrection. Above all else, lift high the name of Jesus.
Whatever you do in an average week to prepare your message, bump it up a notch or two. Make sure that you’re more than prepared in every part of your message, and in each segment of the service.
May God fill each service with his presence and greatly bless your Easter Sunday.
