It is one thing to grab attention. It is another to hold it, particularly in a culture in which people are more accustomed to sound bites than to getting their teeth into something.
This means that the preacher must not only use interesting material, he must also communicate it in an interesting way.
The demeanor of the communicator is a big factor. If the preacher gives the impression of being less than gripped by the subject, it will hardly be surprising if the congregation finds it less than arresting.
